I had the opportunity to take some pictures of my baby sister this last week. I can't believe she is a senior already! Isn't she absolutely stunning! She was an easy subject to photograph!

I know....she's gorgeous!!
I shoot with a Canon Rebel t3i.
I am totally self taught thanks to you tube! :)
I use Photoshop elements 11... and again, lots of you tube!

Valentine's Day Mantel

Let's just jump right in with one of my favorite things ever...a holiday decorated mantel! I try so hard to keep up with my mantel for each season. I love changing it out and coming up with new ideas. I am really digging gold right now and of course, I am always down for more white. So I threw this little diddy up. What do you think?

I love the light and simple look. I totally look forward to this holiday each year so that I can pull out those little LOVE dishes. I bought them when we got married to fill with candies on our snack table. I think they came off of the knot website at the time.

The aqua back drop is old pallet boards that my handy hubs nailed together and I dry brushed on some color. I love this thing. It has so much character, and I love all the flaws.

The gold frame is just a goodwill find spray painted gold. The print inside is actually the back of another picture and I just grabbed a sharpie and free-handed that bad boy. Don't look too closely.

The candlesticks are also from goodwill and spray painted. The heart garland was made for me by my mother in law. They are just little crocheted hearts on a piece of yarn.

The pom garland in the front is one that I made for my Christmas tree. I literally took a piece of thread and needle, two packages of pom poms from Hobby Lobby and strung them on.

Obviously, since Valentines is over this is already outdated. I will be switching it up for Spring very soon!! Thanks for stopping by!

And so it goes....

I have been asked by about a weird crazy amount of people in the last few weeks to start a blog on various things. A few of you mentioned doing a party blog, most of you thought I should start home décor blog. You used words like 'people will flock' and 'I would be obsessed.' I have been milling it over for some time and even began this little 'ol blog. But there wasn't one category that I felt I could keep up with enough to keep readers interested. Until a dear friend said I should just start a blog on all things 'Mom.' That is exactly the road I have chosen to take. This blog will be full of random posts on everything from parties, kid projects, school projects, photography progress, and plenty of home decorating.

I am not a professional anything. In fact, my degree was in elementary education. Currently being a stay at home mom allows more time and flexibility to pursue hobbies that I love. With that being said, I will keep it real. I won't pretend to be a professional. If you ask my opinion I will give it, but you probably won't ever see my house in a catalog or magazine. I just go with what a like. Which is a bit of a rustic-chic-cottage-modern style. Follow that? Yeah, it gets a bit eclectic around here. :)

This 'ol world is a bit harsh and cold sometimes. My goal is to create an atmosphere in my home that screams of the warm fuzzies. I hope to give my kids a reason to celebrate each day and put a little extra fun into life. That is where the name of this blog came from. I hope to be the soft feather to the harsh arrows of this world. To bring peace and happiness to help those who are suffering. (Plus I am really obsessed with the tribal trend right now...hehe!)

So stick around. Join in. Ask questions. Comment with ideas or feedback.
Let's be friends...mmm-kay??
Welcome!
